Could you briefly introduce yourself?

Hi! I am Gulcin. I am on Board of Directors at PostgreSQL Europe and have been working at 2ndQuadrant for almost 3 years now. Studied Applied Mathematics in Istanbul, and completed my master's degree in Tallinn in Computer and Systems Engineering. Currently living in Prague.

Have you enjoyed previous pgconf.eu or FOSDEM conferences, either as attendee or as speaker?

I am a fan of PostgreSQL Europe conferences and I enjoy joining in PGConf.EU, PGDay FOSDEM & FOSDEM PostgreSQL Devroom, and Nordic PGDay every year. I’ve been giving talks in these events from 2015 and being organizer or committee member for some of them still.

What will your talk be about, exactly? Why this topic?

My talk is about near-zero automated PostgreSQL upgrades in cloud. We will be discussing PostgreSQL upgrade methods and how to utilize PostgreSQL Logical Replication to achieve near-zero upgrades with the help of the tool I’ve written in Ansible. I believe it is an important topic because database upgrades are a common need for all database users and I would like to show one-way of achieving near-zero downtime upgrades.

What is the audience for your talk?

My talk is targeted mainly DBAs or DevOps engineers.

What existing knowledge should the attendee have?

There is no existing knowledge required, if I person is registered for this conference I think that person has the required interest for the talk.
