PostgreSQL -- A Crash Course   Friday 14:20   Hotel

Could you briefly introduce yourself?

I'm Christophe Pettus, I'm the CEO of PostgreSQL Experts, Inc., a PostgreSQL consultancy based in the San Francisco Bay Area. I've been working with PostgreSQL since the version 7.1 days as a developer and DBA.

Have you enjoyed previous pgconf.eu or FOSDEM conferences, either as attendee or as speaker?

Yes, I've spoken at both PGConf.EU and FOSDEM. They're amazing conferences! PGConf.EU is one of my two favorite PostgreSQL conferences of the year (the other being PGCon in Ottawa), and there is just nothing else like FOSDEM.

What will your talk be about, exactly? Why this topic?

Any application stack is only as secure as its weakest link... and it is important that weak link not be the database. We'll go over practical and pragmatic ways of keeping data secure.

What is the audience for your talk?

Developers and DBAs (which are increasingly the same people).

What existing knowledge should the attendee have?

A basic knowledge of PostgreSQL from a developer or DBA level is useful, as will be basic system administration skills.
